Australia, City Sightseeing, Diary, Hiking, Road trip / 12.09.2015

Today I’m one year older. Well, technically just a day older, but you get the gist. I’m one year closer to 30, fact that freaks me out more than I’m willing to share here. So, in the spirit of being as young now as I’ll ever be, and striving to live a life I will remember (thanks Avicii), I created a travel bucket list for this year. If not to have as a constant reminder of the things I want to see, do, and eat, then for the sake of imagining them. This list in particular may be a bit ambitious, but I’m looking forward to a great year. There’s no harm if I can’t cross every single item in here, I just gotta try.

(Or that time we went on a Hobbit-like adventure and ended up with glowing maggot shit on our heads)

“The Road goes ever on and on

Down from the door where it began.

Now far ahead the Road has gone,

And I must follow, if I can,

Pursuing it with eager feet,

Until it joins some larger way

Where many paths and errands meet.

And whither then? I cannot say”

J.R.R Tolkien

New Zealand, Rafting / 14.04.2015

(Or that time we rafted the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world.)

You know us. When we heard that you can raft the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world, they couldn’t keep us away. We even changed our perfectly crafted itinerary so we could do this. So, you can imagine just how excited we were when we arrived at Kaituna Cascades for our adventure day out.

(Or jumping from a 47m tower and peeking into the Devil’s Bath)

Taupo Bungy

The road is deserted. You’ve been on the move for more than 5 hours. You’re hungry, and your legs are starting to complain. Suddenly, you see the outline of a tower over the river,  just like an oasis. You feel the pull as it draws you near. Then, you see the sign: Taupo Bungy- 47m high, and no turning back.
